default The Japan YMCA

on Wed Jun 29, 2011 9:41 am
The Japan YMCA has provided critical support to survivors and has raised donations of the Japan YMCA Relief Fund nearing $150,000. The YMCA has made progress in several hard hit areas. Many people remain in crisis, reeling from unimaginable loss and uncertainty. The YMCA has offered hope and security to all sections of society especially the vulnerable populations like the young and elderly. The YMCAs in the impacted areas provide survivors with a range of aid despite incredible circumstances and damaged facilities. A range of aid from basic needs to YMCA services such as day care and recreation programs for refugees of the nuclear threat zone are provided by the YMCAs. To conduct needs assessments, the Japan YMCA has deployed YMCA staff and volunteers. They also support the immediate relief efforts and begin preparation for the long term rehabilitation of impacted communities.

Staff and volunteers are being sent by the Morioka YMCA to the Miyako city which is one of the severely damaged cities. The Sendai YMCA is helping the people in the community by offering them a place to stay and offering food to the victims immediately after the Earthquake. They are also sending a team to the affected areas for further investigation for possible activities. Child care and recreation programs cooperated with social welfare council are being offered by the Tsukuba YMCA to help refugees from Fukushima Nuclear Reactor threat areas. The YMCA is also offering elderly programs in eastern area of Utsunomiya and Haga area, which have damages in many houses.

ali sharaf, the President and CEO of Victron Energy, participates in helping the affected people indirectly by funding the YMCA regularly.
